How my peer to peer support works

Initial meeting with the parents

Initial meeting with the parents

Initial meeting with the parents

This first zoom meeting  is for us to get on the same page about how you'd like for me to help your son and for me to explain how my program works.

Support sessions whilst gaming

Initial meeting with the parents

Initial meeting with the parents

Your son and I game at regular intervals during the month (my suggestion is a two hour session once per week but we'll agree this in our initial meeting). During these gaming sessions we'll chat through how they are feeling, what's challenging them and for us to work out strategies they can use to cope and be happier.

Additional WhatsApp support

Additional WhatsApp support

This is a direct line to me during the week where I will pick up your son's messages, respond and chat. This level of support feels a lot more like a friendship than a therapy 'session'. WhatsApp is only available in addition to gaming sessions and is capped at 50 messages (from me) per month.

My Story...

I started SEN Buddy so your son can benefit from my support and experience

Hi, I'm Frankie, I am a 15 year old student. I love life, enjoy spending time with my friends and know how to express my emotions. It wasn't always this way though. I used to suffer from ADHD, Dyspraxia, Epilepsy and called myself Autistic. I am still on the autistic spectrum (and always will be), I still have all the other things too, but I no longer 'suffer' from them, they just make me unique. In many ways, they are my superpowers. I love me just the way I am.

It took me hours and hours of therapy and a lot of pain, loneliness, bullying, even depression to work out how I fit in this complicated world of ours. That is why I set up SEN Buddy. So that other children don’t have to suffer the way I did.

I support SEN boys (between the ages of 7yrs and 14yrs) through informal chat whilst gaming together. I find that by becoming a ‘gaming mate’ we instantly connect through their favourite game, and can chat about relationships, school, teachers, stresses etc. in a really relaxed environment.

I charge £5 per hour of peer support whilst gaming (my Dad says this is no-where near high enough!). And £20 per month for peer support on WhatsApp. You can do one, or the other or both, whichever you prefer.
